Love the Dove is an informal group of river enthusiasts who came together in Eye, Suffolk in 2025 with a common interest to protect the health of the River Dove, its tributaries and the habitats it supports. We regularly monitor water quality at key locations submitting data to the River Waveney Trust who provide support and training.
The Dove rises as several minor streams in the parish of Bacton at around 63 metres above sea level. It descends to the west of the village and flows north, before turning east to pass through the village of Finningham where it passes under the Norwich to London Liverpool Street railway. At Thorndon it merges with another stream and its course turns north. The river then skirts the eastern edge of the village Eye where it is joined by Lamsey Beck from the west.
Below Eye, it largely forms the western boundary of the parish of Hoxne in a meandering course to the west of Hoxne village. Here it is joined by Gold Brook, before discharging into the River Waveney which forms the county boundary with Norfolk.

We'd love (the Dove) to welcome anyone interested to see what we're doing to join us. We currently meet in small groups on alternate Saturday mornings in Eye (time and location is communicated to group members in advance).
If you live anywhere near any stretch of the River Dove and would like to make a difference nearer to home we'd be happy to speak with you too.
